Consultation

A real conversation with the physician — your history, your imaging on screen, what treatment would target, expected results, side effects, and every alternative (including doing nothing). Bring family, bring questions; nothing is rushed.

Out-of-town patients can often complete this step by phone or video before traveling.

Simulation & planning

A short "mapping" visit: high-resolution imaging in the exact position you'll be treated in, plus a custom immobilization device — for brain treatments, a light mesh mask molded to your face (not a bolted frame; no head shaving).

Then our physician–physicist team builds and quality-checks your plan: the target is contoured slice by slice, every nearby critical structure is fenced off, and the plan is verified on the machine before you return. For prostate SBRT, SpaceOAR® placement and fiducial markers happen in this window too.

Treatment day

Wear comfortable clothes; eat normally; take your usual medications unless told otherwise. You'll lie on the table, the team positions you with your mask or supports, and HyperSight™ takes a six-second scan to confirm the target's position before the beam ever turns on.

Then the machine rotates around you. You feel nothing — no heat, no pain, no sound beyond a quiet hum. Most sessions finish in under 5 minutes. Functional radiosurgery — tremor, trigeminal neuralgia — takes longer, up to about 25 minutes; LDRT sessions run 10–15. The team watches you on camera the entire time and can pause instantly if you need it.

How many treatment days you have depends on what we're treating: radiosurgery is often a single session, prostate and breast SBRT are five, LDRT for joints runs six to ten, and a conventional radiotherapy course can span several weeks. Afterward you get up and go about your day — most patients drive themselves home and have no post-treatment restrictions.

Follow-up

Radiation works on biology's timeline, not the calendar's. We schedule follow-up imaging and visits at set intervals, coordinate everything with your referring physicians, and remain one phone call away in between.

Over 80% of patients report significant or complete pain relief within 1–2 weeks of finishing, often lasting months to years.

Severe pain syndromes can respond within days of a single session — among the fastest responses in radiosurgery.

Improvement is gradual and durable as the target quiets — typically emerging over weeks to months after treatment.

Tumor control is confirmed on follow-up imaging, usually beginning ~2–3 months after treatment.
